Hello everyone.
Keeping up with my efforts to be more active on LinkedIn, this week I would like to address one of the most common questions I am asked frequently.
Wondering what a Warehouse Management System (WMS)? Is it just a buzzword or will it be relevant in the long run?
I’ll keep it very simple and succinct. WMS is an ecosystem of softwares and processes that make it extremely easy for both budding and established businesses to control and administer warehouse operations, right from the time goods enter the warehouse until they move out.
For every product-based business, manufacturing and supply chain operations are a huge component of the functioning. The more seamless these components are, the more successfully a business can run.
And WMS is the one tool to make sure goods and materials move through warehouses in the most efficient and cost-effective way.
If I have to summarize it in a line, I would say a WMS is responsible for handling many functions that enable movements of goods, including inventory tracking, picking, receiving and putaway.
Every responsible enterprise should have an efficient WMS to help them get instant visibility into the organization’s inventory at any time and location, whether in a facility or in transit.
In short, WMS lets you be in total control!
Still got doubts about a WMS? Feel free to reach out in DMs. You can also drop a comment here. I’ll be happy to answer.
Meanwhile, please let me know if you have ever heard of WMS before. Share your experiences in the comments.
